Common Dental Surgery Procedures
The most common dental surgery is tooth extraction, often due to pathological changes or as a preventive measure. We frequently perform preventive extractions of third molars, or “wisdom teeth,” since these teeth often lack sufficient space in the jaw. When left in place, wisdom teeth can increase the risk of decay and gum inflammation in adjacent areas. If an examination reveals potential issues, we may recommend removing the wisdom teeth proactively to avoid painful complications. This decision is based on individual factors, including age, dental history, and overall dental health.
Common reasons for permanent tooth extraction include deep-root cavities, fractures that extend below the gumline, chronic inflammation around the affected tooth, misalignment, and preparation for prosthetic applications like crowns or bridges.
Other procedures we offer include more complex extractions from deeper jaw positions, root tip resection, frenulum removal, jaw and gum adjustments, and bone augmentation for implant support. We’re also equipped to handle multi-tooth extractions and advanced reconstructions, including those required by cancer patients before chemotherapy.
